National Security Minister-designate Anthony Kromah has rejected claims by the House of Senate that he lied under oath about his credentials.
Addressing a news conference last Friday, the Security Minister said he did not lie about his credentials as is being alleged by the Senate, instead, he submitted all relevant documents, but the senate failed to examine whether or not his documents were genuine.
Last Thursday, Kromah was rejected by a 15-man Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence for presenting 'false documents' to that body.
However, Mr. Kromah insists that contrary to reason given by the Senate for his rejection, he did not submit any fake document to the lawmakers.
The National Security Minister-designate explained that he earned his Master degree in Counseling and a Bachelor degree in Administration of Justice, two Associates of Applied Science degrees and one in Criminology and another in Law Enforcement, all from the University of the District of Columbia in Washington, DC. USA.
"My documents are real, telephone numbers, email addresses were provided from my university with return addresses, but nobody took advantage to contact the university. Instead, the Senate acted hastily concluding that my documents were fake," the Security Minister-designate added.
Kromah said he would not challenge the decision of the senate because they have the power to confirm him or reject him. But he emphasized that he would defend his image and clarify all misinformation about his credentials.
"I will not accept the reason given by the senate for my rejection, because I am educated up to the level of Master degree level, and I didn't lie about my credentials as is being alleged by the senate," the Security Minister contended.
Asked whether he feels hurt about his rejection, Mr. Kromah said, "I am hurt because this is what I've worked for 31 years ago. This is the pinnacle of my career. I am hurt because there wasn't proper investigation done by the senate to determine whether my credentials were faked."
The Security Minister said he would brief President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf about the decision upon her return from the United States.
Last Thursday, Senator Lahai Lassana said National Security Minister-designate Kromah was rejected by plenary for lying to the august body under oath.
Senator Lassana warned that any presidential nominee appearing before the august body must ensure that their credentials are counter-checked before submission.
According to the Lawmaker, Kromah claimed that he earned a Master degree in Criminal Justice, but following the review, it was discovered that he earned Master's degree in counseling instead of Criminal Justice.
