Liberia: 18 Soldiers Complete Officer Training

Monrovia — Eighteen officer cadets of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) Friday graduated from the officer candidate school at the Barclay Training Center (BTC) in Monrovia.

According to a defense Ministry release, the cadets underwent 24 weeks of rigorous training courses that has qualified them as officers within the newly formed AFL.

Speaking at the occasion attended by family and friends, the British senior Military Advisor to the AFL, Lt./Col. Robert Knight urged the graduates to be faithful to their subordinates in order to gain their respect.

Lt./Col. Knight stressed the importance of moral courage and need for a high level of professionalism. He said the cadets would need to develop their intellectual abilities, military knowledge and their capacity to think both confidently and imaginarily.

Two of the graduates were honored for their performance during the training. Thomas Nimly was awarded the distinguished graduate award and Prince Gbodi was awarded the leadership prize.
