Maputo

Two people were arrested, accused of leading the beating and burning to death of one man in Maputo last week, who was accused of theft in one of the residences in the Maputo neighbourhood of Magoanine.

David Xirinda and Sergio Antonio are now under police detention in Maputo, accused of the lynching of a young man, only known as Becas, 23, on Monday.

'Becas was caught red handed in the early hours of Monday stealing cash and chicken in a residence in Magoanine', said Maputo police spokesperson Arnaldo Chefo, briefing about the criminal situation in Maputo over the last week.

He said that residents of Magoanine accuse Becas of systematic robbery of cash, chicken and mobile phones in the area.
