Luanda — Angola and Cape Verde expressed this Monday, here, the interest to strengthen the bilateral cooperation and work in the institutional and business-related sectors, especially in the field of agriculture and cattle-breeding, so as to improve the living conditions of the country's citizens.
The interest was shown by the Angolan Agriculture minister, Afonso Pedro Canga, and the Cape Verdean minister of Agriculture and Environment, Maria Madalena das Neves, during a meeting in which the parties discussed about "the priority areas of cooperation for both States".
Speaking during the meeting, the Cape Verdean official referred that her country is seeking strategic partners to improve the living conditions of its residents, idealised by the "Father of the Cape Verdean Independency", Amílcar Cabral.
"Cape Verde needs various partners and Angola is a considered partner due to the opportunities that it offers in the agriculture sector, for the creation of new business opportunities and investments", stressed the Cape Verdean entity.
On his turn, the Angolan Agriculture minister, Afonso Pedro Canga stressed that both countries have the responsibility to take care and improve the nourishment conditions of its population.
According to Afonso Canga, besides the various adversities it faced, Cape Verde overcame many problems and today achieved an average development and became a country of reference in the African continent due to the work of its citizens.
Mr Canga added that as a result of the experiences and the economic level achieved by that archipelago, the cooperation between both countries will enable to overcome the limitations that affect both States.
Cape Verde Agriculture and Environment Minister, Maria das Neves is in Luanda since Sunday, and is visiting the country in light of the Basic Agreement of Economic, Technical, Scientific, Social and Cultural Cooperation, signed in 1978 between the governments of both countries.
