Vice Presidents of Guinea and Sierra Leone Friday met with the Susu/Yalunka union during a meeting held at Senkunia town, Sembelia Senkunia chiefdom in the Koinadugu district to discuss the ethnic groups in the two countries.

Vice President Samuel Sam Sumana said he was impressed to learn that a similar meeting was first held in 1986 at N'ghaya town in Guinea after which it became an annual event observed in the two sister countries.

The Susu and Yalunka are major ethnic groups living primarily in Guinea but smaller communities are also located in the neighboring countries of Sierra Leone, Senegal and Mali.

The Susu in Sierra Leone live primarily in Kambia District next to the Guinean border while the Yalunka live in Kabala in the Koinadugu district neighbouring Guinea as well.

The meeting was commonly called "en nakan fallah," meaning 'the word we said.' The meeting which started last Thursday is expected to end today Monday April 21 after both dignitaries formally opened the session and left on Saturday.
