Angolan Education minister, António Burity da Silva, Monday in Luanda stressed the importance of audiovisual devices that are directed to new methodological approaches to literacy, with a view to encouraging the whole country into speeding up the education catch-up process.

The official said so addressing the opening of the "International Week of Education for All" that will go until April 27.

The devices are compact discs (cd) and digital video discs (dvd), with songs recorded by Angolan singers Filipe Mukenga, Patrícia Faria, Mito Gaspar, Pérola, Dodó Miranda, Yola Araújo, Carlos Lopes, Michelle Duvoi, Gelson Castro, Filipe Zau, in the light of the National Programme of Literacy and Education Acceleration.

Under the motto "Quality education without exclusion", the cycle, according to the minister, is a space for reflection, dialogue, consultation and interaction among the various education agents and of social solidarity on the challenges facing the countries in the implementation of the Dakar Framework for Action.

The said framework has six goals as reference: protection and development of primary childhood, universalisation of primary education, preparation for active life, illiteracy reduction, gender equality and the quality of education.

To the minister, eight years after the holding of the World Forum on Education held in Senegal, the Angolan government has been making large investments in the sector, with a view to increasing and improving schooling coverage, the quality of gender and of services in view of the millennium goals.

According to Burity da Silva, various sectors need to intensify the combat to illiteracy, boosting the country's human resources, because to him, the rates of subschooling still do not satisfy and influence development in a negative way.
