The senior national team of Liberia, the Lone Star yesterday left the country for the Asian country of Oman.
The Lone Star left the country with a 25-man delegation consisting of players and coaching staff as well as representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the local football association.
The team is traveling to that country to play a friendly soccer match with her counterpart of that country which is sponsored by the government of Oman.
Addressing the press yesterday before the team's departure, Lone Star Head Coach, Antoine Hey said 18 local based players and foreign- based stars are making the trip to Oman.
He said the lineup would mainly consist of the same set of players that won the match against Sudan recently when the Lone Star piped their counterparts of that country 2-0, in a friendly match played in that country.
According to him, by April 30, this year, the Sierra Leone national team, the Leone Star would travel to Liberia to engage the Liberian side in a friendly encounter.
Coach Hey expressed his disappointment over the attitude of some foreign- based players who have been called for national duties but are not responding positively to the call.
According to coach Hey, he would not call these sets of players any longer as he prepares the team for national engagements.
He promised to release the names of eighteen- players who would form part of the team camping section in Germany. The Lone Star has been invited for the training tour in that country at the invitation of the German government. The training programs are part of the team's build-up for Angola and South Africa 2010.
Speaking further, Coach Hey said his strategies would include blending the old and experienced players with the new and younger ones to ensure that the team is well fortified to secure a ticket to the two events in 2010.
The German coach called for full commitment on the part of the players so as to ensure qualification for the nation.
Meanwhile, the team would be expected to travel to Germany next month and to get set for their four qualifying games in June. He said these four games were crucial for the team, as it would decide Liberia's chances to qualify for the two events.

He then used the occasion to call on all Liberians, the government and the private sector to support the team in its endeavors to fly the country's flag in Angola and South Africa respectively.
