Hundreds of residents of Monrovia and its environs have ended a two-day strategic meeting intended to help government curb the high wave of armed robbery in the city.
The meeting comes in the wake of recent increase in the wave of armed robbery activities that continue to claim the lives of hundreds of citizens especially those residing in Monrovia in recent time.
Armed robbery activities has increased to the extent that residents of Monrovia and surrounding communities no longer sleep in peace for fear of their lives as their homes might be attacked by these marauding armed men every time of the night.
The men are said to be armed with deadly weapons such as guns, cutlasses, knives, sticks among other weapons. In the face of this alarming situation, government is unable to curb the armed robbery as officers of the Liberia National Police (LNP) are not armed in any way to face the attackers, while on the other hand, UNMIL seems less interested in battling the armed robbers.
The recent increase in the wave of armed robbery around the city, several communities in Monrovia and its environs are forming a united front against the armed robbers.

Over the weekend, representatives from 21 communities in Monrovia and the surroundings met at the Monrovia City Hall to discuss the alarming situation that is said to be claiming the lives of hundreds of residents at night in various parts of Monrovia. In the meeting which, was chaired by Grand Kru County Representative, Gbenimah Slopadoe, the residents set up what they call Community Neighborhood Watch Team Task Force by which they can help government curb the increase wave of armed robbery in the city.
