Ondjiva — At least Usd 566,000 have been set aside by Angolan Government to cover the implementation of two projects for the reintegration of former militaries in socio-economic activities in southern Cunene province.
This was announced Tuesday in Ondjiva, the provincial capital city, by the head of the Institute for Socio-professional Reintegration of Ex-soldiers (Irsem), Venâncio Lungameni in the region.
Speaking to Angop, the official said that the projects include the areas of agriculture, cattle breeding and professional training, involving sewing, micro credit, access to land and construction of schools.
Venâncio Lungameni explained that the projects will be jointly implemented by Caritas and the Military Association of Angola War Disabled People "Amiga", under the supervision of Irsem in the province.
He also said that the project is paying a particular attention to the socio-economic integration of the most needy people of the districts of Cunene, mainly in rural zones.
The head of Irsem in the region informed that in 2007, the institution reintegrated 857 demobilised soldiers in economic and social activities in the districts of Namacunde, Kahama, Cuvelai, Kwanhama and Ombadja. A total of 3,350 demobbed people are currently under control of Irsem in Cunene.
