Luanda — The reinforcement of cooperation towards the increment of agricultural production and supply of food to the populations of the two countries was discussed Tuesday in Luanda by Angolan prime minister, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, and Cape Verdean minister of Agriculture and Environment, Maria Madalena das Neves.

Speaking at the end of an audience granted to her in Luanda by Angolan prime minister, Maria Madalena das Neves told journalists she conveyed to Fernando da Piedade compliments from his Cape Verdean counterpart, José Maria Pereira das Neves, and discussed the need for the establishment of partnerships among businesses from both countries.

"There is already a cooperation with visible results in the areas of air transports and fisheries between Angola and Cape Verde," she said, adding that she hopes a protocol for cooperation in the institutional domain, forests, livestocks, agriculture and training will be signed.

According to the official, the parties also agreed on the creation of new opportunities for the two countries to take development of projects, with a view to the production and improvement of the food situation of the populations.

Maria Madalena da Neves is since Monday in Luanda as part of the basic accord of economic, technical, scientific, social and cultural cooperation existing between the two countries.

The Cape Verdean minister's agenda includes a visit to the Pungo Andongo Farm, in northern Malanje province and the signing of a protocol of cooperation between the two Governments.

Maria das Neves will also attend the meeting of ministers of environment of the Portuguese Speaking Community (CPLP) scheduled to start Wednesday in Luanda.
