Windhoek — AS a very good rainy season draws to an end, the water levels of Namibia's main storage dams are impressive.

Odillo Kgobetsi of the Windhoek Weather Bureau told The Namibian yesterday that the rainy season is almost over and that winter is about to start.

NamWater's latest dam bulletin shows that the level of the Von Bach Dam, the main reservoir for central Namibia, is now 90,5 per cent.

At the same time last year, it stood at 46,8 per cent.

The Swakoppoort Dam stands at a whopping 100,9 per cent (last year: 77,5) while the Goreangab Dam in Windhoek is also 100 per cent full (last year: 93,1 per cent).

In the Gobabis area, the Otjivero Main Dam is at 90,5 per cent of full capacity while that of the Otjivero Silt Dam is 77,6 per cent.

In southern Namibia, the Hardap Dam near Mariental stands at 72,77 per cent, much higher than last year's 45,9 per cent.

The Naute Dam near Keetmanshoop is 87,5 full and the Oanob Dam near Rehoboth stands at 88,8 per cent.

The Omaruru Delta Dam and the Omatjenne Dam are both empty.
