Mr. Abdoulie Jarju of the Movement of Democratic Forces of Casamance, MFDC, is reported to be languishing at the Maximum Security Wing at the State Central Prison in Banjul.

Mr. Jarju, of the MFDC Jakaai faction, was arrested sometimes in June, 2007 in the Western Region of the country and he has since then been detained at Mile II by the Authorities. Sources noted that the authorities are yet to disclose any reason for the arrest and subsequent detention of Mr. Jarju.

Reports further indicate that Mr. Jarju is yet to be charged or arraigned in any court of law in the country. Sources have expressed concern over Mr. Jarjue's health condition.
