The strongest competition in the MTC Mountain Bike Cross-Country race held in Windhoek over the weekend was amongst the veteran men with a field of 16 riders, where Johnny Truter took the honors.

Ian Grassow and Tokkie Bombosch followed closely behind, a media statement from the organisers read.

The Master's men's category was packed with 14 "youngsters" pushing for a place in the single track.

Aidan de Lange with fresh legs after resting them from the Cape Epic, took the top spot followed by Herklaas Viljoen and Hennie Kohne.

Jaques Celliers won the Elite category, followed by Hugh Bruce and Victor Nakalenga.

The junior rider Heiko Redeker kept up with the seniors to finish fourth.

The release added that it was great to have so many Under-16 and younger riders participating.

There were two young girls of 10 years who raced around the 7.2 km track all on their own, in a time of 55 minutes.

Herbert Peters, another 10-year-old, managed to cover the distance in 33 minutes and 43 seconds.
