The University of Yaounde I which has been dominating the university games since its inception is beginning to witness diminishing returns. The mother university is distant 8th position on the provisional medal classification table. After three days of competition the University of Yaounde has only one gold medal and four bronze.

The poor performance of the University of Yaounde has been attributed to the fact that most of its good athletes have either graduated or joined the higher institute of youth and sports.

On the contrary, there has been the spectacle rise of the advanced school of public works who probably benefitting from the absence of Siantou University, now occupy the second position with five gold, one silver and one bronze medal. INJS continues to lead on the medal count with eight gold medals, four silver and five bronze.
