Angola: Agriculture Ministry Launches Development Project in Bengo

An integrated development project, that includes the agriculture sector, will be launched this Friday in Mbanza Mbombo locality, Caxicane commune, Catete district, northern Bengo province, by the minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Afonso Pedro Canga.

Speaking to ANGOP, the consultant of the Rural Development Programme (PDR), Clara Sá-Carneiro referred that the project includes the construction of a new village, various infrastructures and the creation of minimum housing conditions.

According to Clara Sá-Carneiro the village will have electricity, running water, schools, health centres, residences, laundry and a leisure park.

The source stated that the project intends to create identical conditions to that of the city, to facilitate life in the village and attract people residing in Luanda to live in rural areas.

He added that the project will generate at least 20 jobs, and stressed that the construction of the village also includes the rehabilitation of tertiary roads.

The construction of Mbanza Mbombo village is part of the Programme of Rural Development and of Combat to Poverty that started in 2007. From 2008 to 2010 the PDR will benefit the Angolan rural population with projects in the fields of agriculture, energy, building, water and foment of employment, health and education.
