Nairobi — The Kenya National Dialogue and Reconciliation Committee talks resume today with the priority being the composition of members of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC).
Sources said on Wednesday the committee was receiving CVs from prominent personalities to be appointed to the TJRC.
"The committee is vetting applications from within and outside the country who have shown interest to be part of the TJRC," said the source.
The TJRC will comprise seven commissioners and gender balance should be taken into account. Three of the members shall be internationally renowned and of moral integrity.
According to the agreement signed by the negotiators, the TJRC should have been appointed by the middle of this month.
The committee, sitting at the Serena Hotel, Nairobi, will improve the draft document to guide the operations of the TJRC.
The mediation talks, chaired by Nigerian diplomat, Mr Oluyemi Adeniji, are expected to finalise the issue to put in motion the work of the committee.
The commission will inquire into human rights' violations, economic crimes such as grand corruption, historical land injustices and illegal and irregular acquisition of land.
