The first graduation of selected principals in Namibian schools from around the country will take place this evening at a lodge outside Okahandja. The principals have been taking part in the Old Mutual Principals' Academy leadership training programme in conjunction with the ministry of Education for the past couple of months.

Old Mutual has contributed N$1,5 million for the training of school principals over the next three years.

The programme is aimed at improving the leadership and management skills of principals at government schools.

"It is envisaged that the spillover benefit of the programme will be enhanced and improved motivation and performance of teachers, resulting in the overall improvement in academic performance by learners in schools," said a statement from Old Mutual.
