Angola: Luanda to Host International Theatre Festival

Angola's Elinga theatre group will organise in May 08-30 the first International Festival of Theatre and Arts of Luanda, under the commemorations of its 20th anniversary, which will be marked on May 21, ANGOP has learnt.

The activity will have the partnership of the Ministry of Culture and the provincial government of Luanda, on Wednesday announced the group's director, Jose Mena Abrantes.

Participants wil be the groups Horizonte Njinga Mbandi, Etu Lene, Oasis, Henriques Artes, Bismas da Acacias, Estrelas do Horizonte Nucleous, Lunda-Sul Theatre Company and Dançarte, all of them of Angola.

From Mozambique have been invited Mutombelo Gogo and Galagazul grous, os Fidalgos (of Guinea Bissau), Centro Mundial do Mindelo (Cape Verde) and Escola da Noite e Trigo Limpo (Portugal).

Under the festival, dance and music shows, painting exhibitions by the artist Antonio Ole and Domingos Daniel, as well as an artistic training programme will also happen.

Created on May 21, 1998, Elinga have already produced the plays "A revolta da Casa dos Idolos", "Os Velhos Nao devem Morrer", "A Historia da Carochinha", "A historia do CapuchinhoVermelho" and "A ultima Viagem do Principe Perfeito".
