Acting National Security Minister Anthony Kromah says contrary to a decision by the Liberian Senate that he submitted fake documents to that August body and lied under oath, he did not submit fake academic documents.

The Liberian Senate meeting in plenary after reviewing the decision of its Committee on National Security rejected the nomination of Mr. Kromah on grounds that he lied under oath and submitted fake academic credentials to the body.

But in his reaction to the Senate's decision last Friday when he called a news conference, Mr. Kromah said contrary to the decision of the Senate, he holds a Masters Degree in Counseling from the University of the District of Columbia.

He said in addition to that, he has also earned two Associate of Applied Degrees, one in Criminology and another in Law-Enforcement, all of which he obtained from the University of the District of Columbia.

Mr. Kromah said to verify his claims he furnished the Senate with e-mail addresses and telephone contacts of authority of the university for the lawmakers to verify his claims but noted that he feels that the lawmakers did not follow up before taking the action to reject him.

The Acting National Security Minister said as some one who has always wanted to be a professional security officer; he has strived to obtain the best education as possible in the field of security.

Acting Minister Kromah, who displayed an e-mail he claims was dispatched to him from the authority of the University of the District of Columbia, which confirmed his graduation from the masters degree program in counseling, said he has no problem with the decision taken against him by the Senate but that he just wanted to set the record straight as it regards his credentials.

According to him, this is necessary to clear the air that indeed he holds a Masters Degree, because as he put it, perhaps this government or succeeding governments would want to appoint him to other senior level positions based on his professional area of studies.

He added that he does not want issues concerning what the Senate has said about him presenting fake documents to serve as an obstacle to future decisions to serve the state and that is why he took the decision to clear the doubt.
