Monrovia — The Center for Democracy and Elections (CENDE) Incorporated over the weekend launched its rural constitution outreach project followed by a community-driven workshop in Tubmanburg, Bomi County.
A release said the project was launched by the Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy Steve Koutsis.
According to the release signed by CENDE's Executive Director, K-Hastings Panyonnoh, I, the project, under the theme, "Strengthening Constitutional Knowledge for sustained participatory democracy, good governance, peace and development in post-war Liberia" was attended by Bomi County Legislative Caucus, Liberia's Solicitor General and a cross session of citizens from the county.
The release quotes CENDE's Executive Director as saying that the project is basically intended to provide constitutional knowledge to target communities so as to assist the people create effective and responsible citizenship with the requisite knowledge or skills needed to respond and critically deal with matters of individual and collective concern, while understanding the importance of democracy, rule of law, civil duties and responsibilities.
