Massawa — In line with endeavors to promote reliable railway transport system, public service in this sphere is being strengthened, including improved railway service inside the port city of Massawa.
The head of the Asmara-Massawa railway line, Mr. Goitom Weldegebriel, indicated that the service has already began in Massawa at fair price and that the necessary task is being undertaken to ensure its efficiency.
He further indicated that over 2,400-meter long railway along the Asmara-Massawa line which was damaged due to heavy rains has been renovated, while 610-meter long railway reels around Algien and Mai-Atal has been replaced with new ones. Moreover, about 1,000-meter long water catchments and 250-meter long wall has been put in place in a bid to protect the railway from excessive flooding, reports added.
