Luanda — Angolan deputy minister of Social communication, Manuel Miguel de Carvalho (Wadijimbi), said Thursday in Luanda that the National Journalism Award was created as an incentive to quality and creativity of the professionals.
The official was addressing a press conference of the award jury, an event that also served for the presentation to the country's social communication the work done since the prize was created, which he considered as a practical premise for a responsible and credible journalism.
"The National Journalism Award has created an interest on the journalistic class, having highlighted the importance the Government attaches to all professionals of the class, in instituting this recognition," Manuel Miguel de Carvalho said.
To him, this is high time ancient professionals, pioneers in the art of communcation were recalled, those who helped the country to keep indivisible and preserve the national independence obtained with sacrifice on November 11, 1975.
To him, the country is experiencing a new dynamics of development, with the involvement of the social communication, whose ministry has been creating the instruments regulating the mechanisms of concert, aiming at the cohesion of the spirit of comradeship within the class.
The official said that the winners of this year's edition in all categories have been found and the announcement will be made at a gala on April 30 this year in Luanda.
The National Journalism Award has been created with the purpose of stimulating creativity, merit, excellence and journalistic investigation.
The award will go for the categories of print journalism, radio, television and photo-journalism, with the winners getting an amount equivalent to Usd 30,000.
