Luanda — Angola's National Assembly (Parliament) speaker, Roberto de Almeida, said Thursday in Luanda that the various courses with focus on the system of justice pave the way for optimism and trust in the construction of a fairer society to all Angolans.
Speaking at the opening of the seminar on reforms of the country's justice and law, Roberto de Almeida said that the process of reform in progress constitutes a clear demonstration of the Government's political will to reverse the situation prevailing.
The speaker mentioned some factors that are constraining to the good performance of the justice administration organs, namely the lack of infrastructures whose services are directly associated with the populations.
He also said that the lack of juvenile court or minors re-education and internment centres, coupled with the rise in juvenile delinquency and lack of lawyers in some provinces, hinder the exercise of the defence secured by the law.
The lack of financial autonomy on the part of the provincial courts and failure in the enforcements of the magistrates' remunerative statutes, constitute another factor that affect the functioning of the country's judicial system, he also said.
The event that will close on Friday is being attended by MPs, judicial magistrates, church officials and guests.
