Morrison O.G. Sayon

Barely a day following his rebuttal of House Speaker Alex Tyler's statement to the United Nations Secretary General to review the travel ban on some Liberians, some members of the House of Representatives have strongly taken Montserrado County Representative, Dusty Wolokollie to task.

Addressing a brief news conference yesterday at the Capitol Building in Monrovia, Representatives of Bong and Grand Gedeh Counties, George Mulbah and Rep. Zoe E. Pennue, stated that the Speaker's statement to the UN boss was not unilateral as claimed by Rep. Wolokollie.

The two lawmakers noted that Speaker Tyler's statement met the consensus of the entire body. They said the Montserrado County Representative is crying foul because he is afraid of some of those who have been victimized by the UN travel ban.

Rep. Pennue and Rep. Mulbah said Liberians have graduated from these political tricks by Rep. Wolokollie and his likes that continue to confuse the Liberian people for their personal aggrandizements. The two lawmakers then warned Rep. Wolokollie to stop playing on the minds of his colleagues with his false political tricks.

The lawmakers informed the public that the majority in the National Legislature was aware of Speaker Tyler's statement which, they said was done in good faith and in the interest of peace and stability.

Rep. Pennue informed his Montserrado colleague not to even think that the 52nd National Legislature will continue to bring itself to public disrepute by changing its Speaker again as was done in the past with the support of Rep. Wolokollie and his cohorts.

Rep. Pennue noted that whether Rep. Wolokollie likes it or not, Speaker will continue as Speaker of the House to the end of the remaining three years. He said anyone who is eying the Speakership of the House must wait for 2012 to contest the post but not to use political gimmicks.

Bong County Representative, Mulbah noted that Wolokollie is a former democratic victim in the very speaker-race who is doing everything possible to ascend to the position at all cost. He said Wolokollie wants to create tension in the House. Rep. Mulbah said further that Rep. Wolokollie is one of those who introduced violence in the country, something he continues to pursue.

The lawmakers who said they were speaking on behalf of their colleagues pledged their unflinching support to Speaker Tyler noting that the plans by Rep. Wolokollie and others will not work this time around.
