A Liberian, whose construction firm was hired by the Management of Firestone Liberia to form part of its current reconstruction program, says he sees a brighter future for the employees of the company as evident by the accelerated pace at which the construction of modern housing units and the improvements in other social services are being carried out by the Management of this corporate entity.

Mr. Chris Kollie, the General Manager of Chris Kollie and Associates, said that he was impressed with the level of developments permeating within the concession area of Firestone Liberia.

The Liberian contractor also noted that the company was doing its best in meeting the housing, medical and educational needs of its dedicated employees and their dependents.

Speaking recently at the Division 41 construction site, where he's currently building some modern housing units for employees of the company, Mr. Kollie averred that the company's housing program has immensely improved the living standards of its dedicated employees and their families through its collaboration with Liberian contractors.

"I see a brighter future for the employees of Firestone. There are good things to come, they need to take good care of what the company is providing for them; and we as contractors are doing our best in the construction of these housing facilities." Mr. Kollie asserted.

The astute young Liberian contractor further used the occasion to call on the direct beneficiaries of these housing units, (the employees and families) to take keen interest in maintaining and protecting the facilities whenever they (housing units) are occupied.

He added that "by taking interest in maintaining these facilities, the employees would be showing some level of appreciation for the social services being rendered them by the company; and Firestone will be encouraged to continue to do more in the future."

Mr. Kollie, who had earlier participated in the construction of similar facilities in other parts of the concession area, observed that the provision of contracts to Liberian-owned construction firms is helping to enable these firms to become self-reliant and economically potent. He pointed out that such an opportunity, as provided by Firestone Liberia has empowered Liberian contractors to employ a considerable number of jobless Liberians.

Contractor Kollie, on behalf of Chris Kollie and Associates, expressed gratitude to the Management of Firestone Liberia for the level of confidence it continues to build in the abilities of Liberian-owned construction firms to perform credibly by involving them in its reconstruction program.

The Management of Firestone Liberia is currently constructing several modern housing units at Divisions 41, 30, 45, 38 and other parts within its concession area. These housing facilities when completed will immediately be turn over to the employees for occupancy.
