The Press Union of Liberia says it has received renewed commitment towards its dream of inaugurating a printing press of its own in Liberia.
PUL discloses that the Board of Directors of the Carlos Cardoso Foundation has offered fifty percent from the proceeds of the three-acre land to the Union as seed money for the establishment of the printing press.
According to an agreement signed at the week-end, 20% of the sale of the land will go to the Bilingual Newspaper for the setting up of the said printing press.
Italian journalist and chairman of the Carlos Cardoso Foundation, Silverto Montanro signed for his organization, while PUL Secretary- General Peter Quaqua and Mr. Philip Moore signed for their respective institutions.
Mr. Montanro said his organization was making the donation to the media to reduce the cost of printing and make newspapers affordable for reading to the public.
PUL Secretary General Quaqua while expressing excitement said he is convinced that an alternative press operated by the Union would effectively deal with attempts to censor the media through printing houses.
Mr. Quaqua said the dream of establishing a printing press has eluded the Press Union over the years. He was therefore anxious to see this latest offer actualized, because as he puts it, unless the press is fully capacitated, its independence shall remain threatened.

The land in question is ideally located along the coast in Margibi County and is being administered by father Anthony Bowah, director of the Catholic Media Center.
