Angola: MPLA's Provincial Extraordinary Conference Kicks Off

Luanda — The discussions of the ruling MPLA's provincial extraordinary conference of Luanda, part of the preparation of the 3rd National Conference of this party, set for May 09 and 10, began this Saturday morning at the Palace of Congresses.

About 863 entities, among which, delegates elected during municipal conferences, members of the central committee residing in Luanda and representatives of social organisation, of the women and youth wings, OMA and JMPLA, respectively, are attending the gathering.

MPs of the provincial cycle of Luanda to the National Assembly (parliament), CEOs of public and private institutions, religious entities, representatives of the culture and media sectors, are also taking part in the meeting.

The delegates to the conference, which is set to end this Saturday, will discuss and present contributions to the programme of preparing the party for the forthcoming legislative elections scheduled for next September.

According to the agenda, the participants will also present their contributions for enriching MPLA's programme, concerning the 2009/2012 quadrennial. Delegates to the party's 3rd National Conference shall also be elected.

The opening ceremony was presided over by the secretary general of MPLA, Julião Paulo "Dino Matross".
