The governor of northern Cabinda province, José Aníbal Rocha Friday promised, in Buco Zau village, to penalise firms that do not comply with the deadlines agreed upon the construction contracts signed with the Angolan government, in the framework of the ongoing national reconstruction process.

Speaking to the press at the end of a visit to Buco Zau district, north of Cabinda province, Aníbal Rocha said he does not understand the reasons for the delay in the implementation of social works part of the Public Investment Programme.

During the visit paid by the co-ordinator of the Cabinet Council's follow up team to Cabinda province, Roberto Leal Monteiro "Ngongo", last March, the contractors committed themselves to conclude the works until next June, he stressed.

Meanwhile, due to the rhythm currently verified, the governor disagreed that they can meet the deadline.

These are works for the construction of the municipal court, the rehabilitation of the municipal hospital and the "Alzira da Fonseca" hospital, as well as the temple of the local Catholic Church, under the responsibility of "Edufil" and "Opca" firms.
