Twelve teams are battling for a berth at the first round of the African U-17 cadet fiesta. Nigeria's Golden Eaglets are the defending champions in the continent and at the global level.

The Eaglets gladdened the hearts of the continent in Korea last September when they conquer Spain to etch Nigeria's in gold in Zurich.

This week, the 12 teams will contend for six spots to join 20 others in battle to dethrone the Eaglets. Among the lot are theYoung Harambees Stars which are seeking a maiden berth. Kenya have never qualified for the fiesta.

The Kenyans held their guests Rwanda to a 2-2 draw in the first leg and are counting on their home advantage to edge past their opponents into the next round.

In other matches Seychelles face an uphill task as they face Reunion at home. The Islanders must overturn a four goal deficit from the first leg to have any realistic chance of making it to the first round.
