Benguela
The provincial public prosecuting department chief of Benguela, Hernani Beira Grande, denied Friday in this province the existence of excess of police custody detention cases.
Speaking to ANGOP, at the closing act of the legality week event that served to commemorate the 29th anniversary of the State's Attorney-General Department, the prosecutor said that there will be a constant and strict control of police custody detention cases, for the fulfilment of the law.
According to him, the courts have been giving decisions to criminal lawsuits on a daily basis, without long delays, even with the reduced number of judges.
The public prosecutor of Benguela informed that despite this, it is also noted an overloading of prisoners in the province's jails, due to the fact that certain types of crimes are frequently committed.
He considered, however, that the prisoners have been well treated, adding that in the Cavaco Prison, the detainees attend training in courses of arts and crafts like ironwork, carpentry, among others, aimed at their rehabilitation and reintegration in society.
On the other hand, he said that activities scheduled in the legality week were accomplished with success, in which the society participated, showing well their interest in upgrading their juridical culture.

The provincial prosecutor of Benguela guaranteed that these activities will continue to be held, because they are also included in the programme outlined by the institution for this year.
