The Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa in Namibia, PRISA, Namibia kick-started the year with an Annual General Meeting that took place in Windhoek on the March 27 2008.

The meeting was well attended with PRISA members, PRISA students, practitioners and interested members of the public.

The AGM created a stimulus among PRISA members and the aspiring PRISA students with guest speakers such as, Mixuel de Kock, PRISA President whose main message was volunteerism and Victor Sibeko, Vice PRISA president who did an informative presentation rekindling the passion and importance of Public Relations. The AGM allows practitioners and members to continually reassess and develop their skills in public relations through PRISA. PRISA's accreditation is also globally recognised meaning that members of PRISA that are practitioners practising public relations in a standard ethical manner are internationally recognised.

The new Namibian PRISA committee was elected for 2008 with a new addition to the committee of two student representatives. Maria Dax, the immediate past Chairperson, delivered a report on her accomplishments as the Namibian PRISA Chairman for two consecutive years, 2006 and 2007. Riaan van Rooyen, one of seven Accredited Public Relations Practitioners in Namibia took over the position as Chairman of the PRISA Namibia Committee for 2008.
