Windhoek — Southern Stream First Division outfit Deportivo Alaves' midfielder Lidmey Khabeb has been found guilty by the Organising Committee of the Namibia Football Association (NFA)/Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) Cup after he assaulted a referee.
Khabeb was fined N$2 000 for assaulting referee Reinhold Shilongo at Keetmanshoop in the NFA/MTC Cup first-round match against Ramblers Football Club earlier this year.
At a media briefing held at NFA Soccer House on Thursday, NFA Acting Secretary General Barry Rukoro said Khabeb would be suspended for two seasons if he fails to honour the punishment.
According to one of the NFA/MTC Cup Organising Committee Members, Tim Isaacks, Khabeb has until tomorrow to pay the fine.
Rukoro added that the NFA/MTC Cup had seen minimal disciplinary cases, compared to previous seasons.
Nampa has reliably learned that Shilongo has not laid a case against Khabeb with the Namibian Police (Nampol).
