Asmara — Easter was celebrated nationwide today, April 27 with great enthusiasm, reports from all corners of the country indicated. Various high government officials and over 1,500 invited guests attended the celebration that was carried out at a national level today in Adi Quala sub-zone with the joint cooperation of the Ministry of Information and the Administration of the Southern region.
Noting that the EPLF employed the principle of 'Religion for Individuals and Nation for all' during the liberation struggle, Holiday's Coordinating Committee Mr. Berhane Mengesha said during the event that the Eritrean people have maintained the hard earned freedom having followed the principles the freedom fighters founded.
Noting that members of both Christian and Muslim faithful took part in today's celebration, the head of the coordinating committee further added that the day marks the harmony, unity and goodwill that Eritreans of different religions enjoy.
Participants of the celebration also stated the significance of the hosting of the event in historical areas of Adi-Begi'o, and Tsa'eda Kelay districts of the Adi-Quala sub-zone where great military successes were registered in pre-and-post Independence.
During the occasion, the Eritrean defense forces cultural troupe staged various performances that entertained participants.
Inhibited by over 83,000 people, the Adi Quala sub zone has 106 villages and 22 administrative districts. The sub-zone is recognized for its rich agricultural potentials and efficient social services that have been established after independence.
