Opposition politician Dr. Togba Nah Tipoteh says there can be no peace without justice especially for a country like Liberia that has suffered 14 years of armed conflict.

He observed that the peace Liberia has, is due to the absence of war.

Dr. Tipoteh said in order to have genuine peace there must be justice which seeks to protect the rights of all Liberians.

The opposition politician made the statement at the YMCA building Saturday when he served as guest speaker at the 19th anniversary of The News Newspaper.

The News was established on April 24, 1989 to serve as a voice of the voiceless.

During the occasion, several personalities including President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and Defense Minister Brownell Samukai received certificates of recognition for their numerous contributions to the development of Liberia.
