Kenya: Raila in Germany for Check-Up

Nairobi — Prime Minister Raila Odinga left the country on Sunday for treatment in Germany.

Raila, who was accompanied by his wife Ida, is expected to return to the country on Friday.

Sources familiar with the Prime Minister's medical visit said there was nothing serious and he would undergo a general check up after the gruelling election campaigns last year.

"He left last night for treatment in Germany. Its nothing major, but a routine check after the December campaigns and elections. He will be back on Friday," added the source.

However, other sources said the trip was private. Raila went to university in Germany where he studied engineering.
