Eritrea: President Calls On Saudi Investors to Avail Themselves of Investment Opportunities in Eritrea

Asmara — President Isaias Afwerki called on Saudi investors to take the initiative of seizing the opportunity of investing in different sectors in Eritrea in view of the fact there exist beneficial and reliable opportunities. He made the call during a meeting with Saudi investors today at the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce.

Noting that Eritrean-Saudi relations is based on geographical, cultural and historical ties, as well as mutual benefit, the President reminded Saudi investors to avail themselves of existing resources and opportunities for investment in Eritrea. He further indicated that the investment opportunities in all sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, construction, fisheries, mining and others are open to Saudi investors. President Isaias underlined that at a time when the price of agricultural products is soaring at a global level, investment in this sector as part of efforts to achieve food security is particularly beneficial.

Stating that there exist factors that encourage investment, namely reliable legal procedures and institutional capacity, as well as peace and security, the President suggested to Saudi investors to personally visit Eritrea and witness the available resources and opportunities.

The Saudi investors on their part expressed appreciation to President Isaias for the briefings he gave them and stated that Eritrean-Saudi relations that is based on mutual trust provides a conducive ground for them to invest in Eritrea. They further pointed out that a group of investors would soon visit Eritrea to explore the available opportunities.

Also in the afternoon hours today, President Isaias received and held discussion with executive committee members of the Eritrean Community in Riyadh, during which he lauded the Community's patriotic activities and contributions which attest to their close bond with the Homeland. He also called on members of the Community to reinforce such a stance.

The Eritrean nationals asserted that they would as ever enhance their active participation in all national programs.
