28 April 2008

Ge — UíThe chairperson of Angola's Doctors Order, Carlos Alberto Pinto, Monday in Uije city defended the need for the opening of more medical faculties in order to better cover the country's health network.

Speaking to Angop, at the end of a two-day working visit to northern Uije province, Carlos Alberto Pinto said that the creation of additional medical faculties will enable the training of a considerable number of national physicians to cover health network of the country's periphery.

According to the source, the State-run only medical faculty is not enough to train more medical doctors to meet the huge demand of Angola's health network, which prompts the Angolan Government to outsource foreign professionals.

"There is a need to open up more medical faculties in the country aiming at resolving the shortage of doctors, so that we get more specialised professionals, although the investments in medical faculties are enormous", he stressed.
