Luanda — The general commander of the National Police, Ambrósio de Lemos, Monday here announced that researches are being conducted for the modernisation and updating of the National Department of Criminal Investigation (DNIC).
"We are conducting some researches and gathering information to exchange experiences with other countries so that the construction project of new DNIC building combines with a more scientific criminal investigation", Ambrósio de Lemos affirmed at the end of a visit to the temporary premises of this institution.
Ambrósio de Lemos said that the authorities are analysing the new site within a government project, where will be built the headquarters of the criminal investigation.
"There are areas that the government is planning for the public administration and we are trying to include the criminal investigation", the commander stressed.
The police official also visited the building that will host the Provincial Command of Luanda's National Police and the Provincial Management of Luanda's Criminal Investigation (DPIC), which is expected to be ready by next August.
During the visit, the commissioner referred, "we learnt that the space where, currently, DNIC and DPIC are working is small, having into account that it was not built for this aim".
The commander added that the place was constructed to host a police division and a police station, but due to the existing need, hosts both managements.
The National and Provincial Criminal Investigation Departments worked in the same premises, until last March 29th, the time in which the building, located in Senado da Câmara Street, collapsed.
Regarding this issue, the general commissioner explained that from now on there will be a separation between these police organs. "The national management, as methodological organ, will only be responsible for bigger cases that will move from provincial case to national ones".
