Uganda: Mukono Gets Health Equipment

The treatment of HIV/Aids in Mukono District is set to improve following the acquisition of an automation laboratory.

The laboratory is equipped with equipment that analyses the progress of HIV in the body, functions of the organs and examines blood.

The facility, the first of its kind in delivery of health services in Mukono District includes psyprocounter, humarizers and hematology analysers that can produce organ and blood examination results within three minutes.

"This is the latest technology in examining the human body," Mr George William Mwasa, the laboratory technician said.

"I can take three samples at a go and within three minutes the cluster differentiation or organ dysfunction result is produced together with the possible solutions."

He was explaining the operations of the facility at its commissioning at Kyetume Community-based Health Care at Kyetume trading center in Nakisunga Sub-county, Mukono District on Friday.

The equipment worth over Shs100 million was donated by the Netherlands based NGO, Global Ministries to Support Activities of Kyetume Community Based Health care Organisation.

At the same function, the Minister for Trade and Industry, Ms Janat Mukwaya, said, "We want to work on the preventive measures to stop the mass death of our people from preventable causes."
