Chief Medical Officer at Rundu State Hospital, Dr Yuri Yangazov, yesterday confirmed the discovery of a human skeleton behind the hospital last Tuesday.

New Era could not establish who discovered the skeleton but police in Friday's Crime Bulletin identified the skeletal remains as those of Munango Mukuve Kashindereke.

While the police could not give the age of the deceased, Dr Yangazov said a 14-year-old boy was admitted at the Rundu State Hospital on February 5 this year. Two hours later, it was discovered that the boy had absconded.

Relatives and police were informed of the boy's disappearance, the doctor added.

"Some people leave the hospital. We are not a prison and we cannot force people to stay," said the Chief Medical Officer.

The case is still under police investigation and according to Dr Yangazov, a post-mortem will also have to be carried out to determine the cause of death.

Police reported that another skeleton was found at Farm Buffelsjag, in Osire Refugee Camp area of the Otjozondjupa Region last Tuesday.

The police have identified the skeleton as that of Aukus Abner, aged 40. They say they are still conducting investigations to determine the cause of death.

Meanwhile, Nampa reported that police at Rundu have opened a docket of inquiry following the death of Donald Haingura of Bunya village.

Haingura (61) committed suicide last Tuesday at Bunya village in the Kapako Constituency. He allegedly shot himself through the head with a shotgun.

In the Hardap region, the police are investigating a case of rape after a man allegedly raped a six-year-old boy at Schools Street in Empelheim, Mariental, on Wednesday between 14h00 and 16h30. No arrest has been made yet.

In the same region, a man is reported to have died after sustaining injuries to the head. He is reported to have been hit on the head with a wheel spanner between 19h00 and 20h00 at the town on Tuesday.
