'I want to kill my mother.' A 20 -year- old woman recently shocked Broadhurst Magistrate court by vowing in court to kill her mum as soon as she gets a chance.

Boikanyo Esaleone who faces a threat to kill charge was alleged to have made attempts on her mother's life by splashing her with boiling water and chasing her around their house in Block 9 with a knife threatening to stab her to death.

She was reported to have yelled, "Ke tla go bolaya"(I will kill you) to her mother Annah Ntamo as she brandished a knife. The charge was put to her but her plea was reserved. Prosecution applied that the accused be kept in custody to protect her mother. "The two live under the same roof,"state Prosecutor Kabelo B.A. Malaolo said highlighting that there was a need to protect Ntamo to ensure that her life is not in danger. The court ordered that the accused be held in prison custody as she might try and go back to her mother's house to terrorize her, as she openly stated in court that she would kill her whenever she gets the chance.

When asked to advise court on where she would go if ordered to move from her mother's house, Esaleone answered that she would gladly move in with a friend in Tlokweng.

In the middle of court proceeding Esaleone asked her mother why she had brought her before court and said that she did not understand why she was there in the first place. Magistrate Janet Phosa noted displays of mental instability. The case continues on January 27th at 8:30 a.m.
