Opposition Politician, Dr. Togba Nah Tipoteh, has observed that the peace Liberians enjoy today is only due to the absence of war.

Dr. Tipoteh said for the country to enjoy lasting peace following years of civil war, there must be justice which would in turn seek to protect the fundamental rights of all Liberians.

Addressing the 19th Anniversary celebration of the News Newspaper last Saturday at the YMCA building on Broad Street, Dr. Tipoteh said there can be no peace without justice especially in a country like Liberia following years of war.

He urged all to ensure that Justice prevails in Liberia so as to sustain the current peace being enjoyed in the country.

Traditionally, the News Newspaper honored several individuals at the 19th Anniversary celebration prominent among whom were President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Defense Minister Brownie Samukai.

The News Newspaper was founded on April 24, 1989 to help inform the Liberian populace and project those things that would be of help to the voiceless in the society.

The paper's Board Chairman, former Finance Minister, Wilson Tarpeh, recounted the paper's relentless efforts through out the years and promised to continuously keep its wheels turning.

The celebration brought together media practitioners, officials of Government, members of the business community and the public.
