Botswana beef has been described as one commodity that contributed to making Botswana's economy one of the strongest in Africa.

Mr. Jaime Crombet Hernandez-Baquero, the head of the Cuban delegation on a four-day visit to Botswana made the observation during a visit to the Botswana Meat Commission in Lobatse.

He said beef is an important resource that has contributed significantly to the development of the country.

Although he did not promise that Cuba would start importing Botswana's beef, Mr. Hernandez-Baquero said they would inform the government about their impression of the local abattoir. "We might open a new market with Botswana," he added.

He expressed hope that there would always be information exchange between Botswana and Cuba to strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
