The vision road map laid out by the President Ian Khama during his inauguration should act as a basis for the improvement of democracy in Botswana says independent consultant, Mr Taolo Moshaga.

He was speaking during a presentation of a trophy to a form three student, Mmapula Otlogetswe, from Ngwaketse Junior secondary school who had managed to understand and explain what the four Ds in the president's speech meant out of 360 students.

Mr Moshaga explained that twenty-four hours after the president made his inaugural address, he officiated at an event in the school and asked students what the students understood by the president's four Ds.

"I was impressed by this and decided to do something as a form of appreciation," hence this trophy.

He emphasised that it was the duty of both children and their parents to propagate the president's vision and make it a success.

On other issues, Mr Moshaga noted that the president had shown a high degree of leadership which was needed for the country's democracy and development.

He encouraged Batswana to adopt the vision so that it became a reform agenda.

Furthermore, he encouraged NGOs, chief executive officers and the media to promote and conceptualize the four Ds.

Speaking at the same event, Senior Private Secretary to the President, Mr Samuel Rathedi, who presented the trophy on behalf of the president said he was delighted that the president's message had been well received as demonstrated by the response of Mr Moshaga and a student such as Mmapula.

"It is encouraging to realize that even students have conceptualized the president's four Ds," he noted.

He told Mr Moshaga that the president was impressed by this and would have attended the event if it was not for other work commitments.

On other issues, Mr Rathedi applauded the student, his teachers and parents and asserted that the nation and vision had a bright future considering that the message had been well received.

For her part, Mmapula explained that the youth were the future of the nation and that she was a leader in her own right.
