Asmara — An Eritrean government delegation headed by the Minister of Labor and Human Welfare, Ms. Askalu Menkerios, participated in the International Conference of the Elderly in Abu Dhabi that was held from April 22 to 24. The delegation attended the conference at the invitation of the Minister of Social Security of the United Arab Emirates.
Over 75 countries took part in the conference conducted under the patronage of Sheika Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation. The conference participants held discussion on issues of vital significant regarding the handling and care of elderly people.
Meanwhile, Ms. Askalu held talks with the Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation, Sheika Fatima Bint Mubarak, and the Chairperson of the UAE Women's Association, discussing the social and human affairs situation of their respective country.
Moreover, Ms. Askalu gave extensive briefings to Eritrean nationals residing in Abu Dhabi and its environs on the objective political and economic situation in the Homeland. She explained that the Eritrean Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare is laying the groundwork for nationals to secure employment opportunities abroad, besides extending support to families of fallen heroes and disabled citizens. The Minister further expressed appreciation to Eritrean nationals in the Diaspora for their due contribution in supporting martyrs' families and needy citizens.
