Angolan swimmers João Matias (men's) and Ana Romero (ladies) will take part in the 2008 Olympic Games, to be held in Beijing, China, informed the secretary of the local Olympic Committee, Mário Rosa.

The source told the fact to ANGOP this Tuesday, and referred that was informed this morning by the Angolan Swimming Federation (FAN) that the two swimmers were reselected by the International Swimming Federation (FINA).

This was only possible due to the results obtained in international competitions, with highlight to this April's world tournament held in Manchester (England), in which they broke 11 national records.

In recent declaration to ANGOP, the secretary general of FAN, Lino Lourenço predicted that the two swimmers had good chances of being chosen to represent the country in the Olympic Games.

Angola will participate in the biggest sporting event of the country in the sports of men's basketball, handball (ladies), canoeing (males), athletics (males) and swimming (both sexes).
