Uganda: Police Arrest Old Woman for Killing Neighbour's Son

Sembabule — Police in Sembabule District are holding a 50 year-old woman for allegedly killing her neighbour over land.

Ms Safina Nakayiira, a resident of Bukulula village in Mateete Sub-county reportedly connived with her four sons on Monday and they killed Steven Kasozi, a son to Mauritius Namata who had misunderstandings with Nakayiira over a plot of land.

The four suspects while armed with machetes, allegedly hit Kasozi (36) on the head. He later died in Kitovu Hospital. The District Officer in Charge of the Criminal Investigation Directorate, Mr Casius Adire, told journalists that Mauritius Namata had earlier issued an eviction notice ordering Ms Nakayiira and her family to vacate the plot of land where they had constructed a house.

He said both Nakayiira and Namata were claiming ownership of the plot of land measuring to one hectare. Mr Adire said they are hunting for Nakaiira's four sons.
