Kenya Pipeline and national team player Catherine Wanjiru is certain Kenyan clubs will prevail over Egyptians in the African Clubs Championship matches today.

Kenya Commercial Bank play Al Shams in Pool 'B' as Prisons tackle champions Al Ahly in Pool 'A' as the event enters round three.

All the four teams are top favourites and winners will enhance chances of reaching the semi-finals if not topping their pool.

Wanjiru said: "To start with, KCB have high chances of beating Al Shams. The team has experienced players like Dorcas Ndasaba, Margaret Indakala, Jackline Barasa, Esther Ouna and many others."

"I have confidence they will win," said Wanjiru who also plays for the national team.

The veteran player who has played many times against Egyptian national team and Al Ahly said the hosts might pose a challenge to Prisons.

She said: "Al Ahly is a good team but if Prisons maintain the morale they exhibited during the national league in Nanyuki then they stand a good chance to win the match."

Wanjiru said Prisons' line-up boasts of young and vibrant players who can destroy any opponent in the continent.

She gave example of captain Praxides Agala and Diana Khisa who are all enterprising middle blockers, right attacker Lydia Maiyo and stylish setter Jane Wacu as some of the best players on the continent.

Asked whether the home ground would be an added advantage for the Egyptians, Wanjiru said "no" and explained that most of the Kenyan players had vast international experience to play at any backyard. Wanjiru praised Egyptian fans and described them as some of the most friendly in Africa.
