FORMER Safety and Security Minister Peter Tshirumbu Tsheehama resigned from Parliament yesterday.

Tsheehama reportedly has not been well and was also removed from Cabinet by President Hifikepunye Pohamba when he made his first reshuffle this month.

During last month's Independence Day celebrations at the new State House, Tsheehama was honoured for his role in the country's struggle for liberation.

His resignation from the National Assembly has officially signalled his retirement from active politics.

Speaker Theo-Ben Gurirab said he was waiting on Swapo to nominate the person to take over Tsheehama's seat.

Meanwhile, the Congress of Democrats has replaced the late Kala Gertze in the National Assembly.
