PIET and Petru Strydom had just returned home after having brunch with their son in Swakopmund on Saturday morning when they were overcome by two armed robbers.

According to Mrs Strydom, they had just parked their car in the garage when the two robbers jumped out, holding knives to their throats and threatening to kill them if they did not give them money and guns.

"They tied up our hands and feet. My husband was slashed across the face and on his arm before being dragged through the house into a room, and left there, before they turned on me again to demand where the money and guns were," she told The Namibian yesterday.

When they pulled a gown over her head and hit her in the face, she panicked and told them where the safe was, where the couple kept cash and two pistols.

According to the Police, the robbers took one nine-millimetre pistol and about N$110 000 worth of cash.

They also got away with the Strydoms' cellphones and jewellery.

Mrs Strydom told The Namibian that she had been robbed once before - also in Swakopmund, about a decade ago.

Her first husband was shot dead in front of her during that robbery.
